Question 1

How long does a new boiler installation take?

Accepted Answer

A like-for-like swap in the same position is typically a day. Converting between boiler types — a regular system to a combi, say — takes longer because the tank and cylinder come out and pipework changes.

Question 2

How often should a boiler be serviced?

Accepted Answer

Once a year is the standard recommendation, and most manufacturers require it to keep the warranty valid. For Drumchapel landlords the annual gas safety check is a legal requirement regardless. Booking in late summer usually gets you a better choice of slots than waiting for the first cold snap.

Question 3

What size boiler do I need?

Accepted Answer

It depends on your property size, number of radiators and how many bathrooms draw hot water at once — not on fitting the biggest available. An oversized boiler cycles inefficiently and costs more to run. We size it properly and explain the reasoning.

Question 4

What should I do if I smell gas at my Drumchapel property?

Accepted Answer

Treat it as an emergency. Leave the property, don't touch light switches or anything that could spark, and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 straight away — before calling us. They attend free, around the clock, and will isolate the supply if needed. Once it's safe, we'll come out to repair the pipework or appliance, and around 28 minutes from us.

Question 5

Combi, system or regular — which is right for my home?

Accepted Answer

Combi suits most flats and smaller homes with decent mains pressure. System boilers with a cylinder handle larger homes and multiple bathrooms better. Regular boilers are usually kept when replacing like-for-like where a loft tank already exists.

Question 6

Do I need to be home for the engineer?

Accepted Answer

Someone over 18 needs to provide access and be there while gas work is carried out at your Drumchapel property. If you're arranging it for a tenant or an elderly relative, that's fine — just give us their contact details when you book so we can coordinate directly.

Question 7

Do you remove and dispose of the old boiler?

Accepted Answer

Yes, that's included. We take the old unit away and dispose of it properly — you're not left with it in the garage.

Question 8

Why is my boiler losing pressure?

Accepted Answer

Most often a small leak somewhere in the system, a worn pressure relief valve, or a failing expansion vessel. Topping up occasionally is normal; needing to do it every few days is not. Given the age of the heating in many Drumchapel properties, a pressure test is usually the quickest way to find the cause.

Question 9

Is a system flush included?

Accepted Answer

We assess whether the system needs one and tell you honestly. Fitting a new boiler onto an old, dirty system is a false economy — debris circulates into the new unit. Be cautious of any quote that's cheaper because it quietly omits this.

Question 10

Can you fit radiators or move one in Drumchapel?

Accepted Answer

Yes — new radiator installs, replacements and relocations, sized properly for the room rather than guessed. We'll balance the system afterwards so every room in your Drumchapel home heats evenly instead of one being roasting and another cold.
